Eagle is currently seeking a Business System Analyst for a one (1) year contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in October.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Creating test data and verifying accuracy and completeness of created software components by testing in accordance with established criteria and standards;
  • Maintaining historical records by documenting program development and revisions;
  • Evaluating, modifying, and testing existing software;
  • Assisting with the preparation of operational documentation for the system users and support teams;
  • Preparing software utility documentation according to established departmental and divisional standards;
  • Coordinating change and implementation activities in accordance with established criteria and standards;
  • Analyzing current systems through review of documentation and interviews with IT clients;
  • Troubleshooting productions systems;
  • Installing selected vendor software and evaluating new packages;
  • Preparing or providing input into one or more of the following:
    • Feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, or business case;
    • Requirement definitions;
    • Conceptual design documents;
    • Plans;
    • Project estimates;
    • System designs;
    • Implementation Designs;
    • Systems and programs specifications;
    • Systems and client documentation;
    • Testing requirement definitions;
  • Leading Joint Application Development sessions;
  • Assisting with leading teams in the development of new systems and enhancements to existing systems;
  • Resolving problems related to service requests or production problems;
  • Providing input into the performance of assigned staff, as required;
  • Conducting regular meetings with user contacts;
  • Liaising and communicating with all levels of management, and with other project teams to co-ordinate efforts;
  • Participating, as required, in enterprise architecture development;
  • Ensuring that all activities adhere to the client’s architectural principles, standards, and process (unless an exemption has been granted);
  • Developing and enforcing policies, standards, and procedures for work carried out in this area;
  • Developing requirements, feasibility, cost, design, and specification documents for new or production systems;
  • Gathering and analyzing data for the conduct of studies to establish the technical and economic feasibility of proposed computer systems;
  • Analyzing functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decisions flows and recommend alternatives for solutions;
  • Defining and documenting interfaces of manual to automated operations within sub-systems, to external systems and between new and existing systems;
  • Defining input/output sources including a detailed plan for technical design phase;
  • Defining and documenting all systems components, their interfaces and operational environment;
  • Defining data structures and files, sub-systems and modules, programs, batch, online, production monitoring procedures, testing strategy and systems;
  • Documenting systems design, concepts and facilities, present and obtain approval for detailed system design;
  • Translating business requirements into systems design and technical specifications;
  • Working with developers to model and produce functional prototype and an operational system including all forms, manuals programs, data files and procedures;
  • Implementing systems to support projects, departments, organizations or businesses;
  • Creating, updating, and maintaining procedures and standards;
  • Maintaining up-to-date business knowledge of standards, policies and processes;
  • Providing expert consultation in production system analysis, performance, scalability security, and maintenance;
  • Analyzing and coordinating data file conversions including completing mapping, interfaces, mock conversion work, enhancements, and actual conversion and verify completeness and accuracy of converted data;
  • Working with importing / restructuring files and data from various sources and in diverse formats;
  • Contributing to the work breakdown structure and Project Plan;
  • Coordinating application enhancement requests including reviewing service requests for privacy and confidentiality impacts, conducting preliminary analysis and estimation, development in accordance with the system development life cycle, and final user testing and acceptance;
  • Acting as Leader and mentor to a team of application support personnel;
  • Performing work load management and monitoring to ensure optimal utilization of team resources; monitoring team resource level in relation to workload and advising Manager of required adjustments;
  • Ensuring maintenance/creation of detailed system support documentation;
  • Analyzing business processes and make recommendations to implement new or improved work flows following accepted methodologies such as ITIL;
  • Facilitating sessions with client representatives as required;
  • Establishing a strong working relationship with Clients and interact effectively with all levels of client personnel;
  • Providing Project Management and leadership to junior resources in modifying business applications in accordance with all applicable standards;
  • The implementation of new business application systems, and requests for change and enhancements to existing business systems while ensuring that proper change and incident management processes and security assessment procedures are adhered to.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • Seven plus (7+) years of Systems Analyst experience;
  • Business Analyst background/experience;
  • Experience gathering requirements and writing business use cases; and,
  • Experience working on security projects an asset;
