Senior Full Stack Java Developer

Eagle is currently seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer for a one (1) year contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in August.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Mastering and evolving the organization of their code base and coding best practices;
  • Proactively identifying and driving architectural refactoring;
  • Maintaining the architectural integrity of their teams solution;
  • Unit test design, advising and driving the development of test harness (architectural elements to support automated testing);
  • The design and application of unit tests;
  • Understanding code quality metrics and actively suggests improvements on their collection;
  • Understanding of the architecture of their system and technical implications of changes;
  • Understanding the technology environment (connected systems);
  • Understanding of DevOps, including release management and migration methodology and requirements to plan, implement, or oversee programs/systems into production;
  • Actively identifying, developing, evaluating, and piloting technical standards and development practice improvements;
  • Understanding and enforcing the enterprise architectural direction;
  • Advocating good design and refactoring to minimize technical debt;
  • Analysis of cross systems to determine cause of defects;
  • Advising, reviewing, completing, and facilitating the analysis and design of new cross-systems work;
  • Advising on tool usage and makes recommendations on new tools;
  • Analysis of complex system components to determine cause of defects and resolve;
  • Applying, coaching, and mentoring others in modelling techniques;
  • Ascertaining client requirements and determine the best programming solution;
  • Identifying and determining strategies to mitigate technical risks;
  • Reviewing other developers code;
  • Mentoring and coaching other team members in architecture practices;
  • Articulating architectural trade-offs of different approaches in discussions with the business;
  • Promoting ideas, gaining the cooperation of others and influencing change;
  • Presenting recommendations on complex technical or business issues to various audiences;
  • Writing and developing technical documentation;
  • Planning, prioritizing, and completing multiple complex concurrent tasks in an environment of changing deadlines, priorities, and requirements;
  • Supporting and leading task breakdown and estimating of any complexity;
  • Supporting or leading for cross functional projects of any complexity across the enterprise; and,
  • Providing technical direction to others and resolving project-related issues.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • Ten plus (10+) years professional experience in full stack development building large-scale web applications;
  • Seven plus (7+) years of experience in the following tools and technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
  • Seven plus (7+) years’ experience developing with Object-Oriented development language such as Java;
  • Five plus (5+) years’ experience with modern JavaScript frameworks; Knowledge of third-party libraries like jQuery, LESS, Angular, and React JS is desirable;
  • Experience with backend data / API integration using JSON and RESTful web services;
  • Experience with DBMS technology like MySQL, MongoDB, Oracle and SQL Server;
  • Knowledge of caching mechanisms like varnish, Memcached, Redis is preferable;
  • Experience with basic prototype design and UI /UX design; and,
  • Experience with Agile software development methodology.
