UX Designer

Eagle is currently seeking a UX Designer for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in July.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Working with the UX team to ensure a consistent, effective, and competitive user experience for all products;
  • Working with clients directly to understand their business environment, processes and ‘jobs to be done’ and obtain their feedback and direction on product interfaces;
  • Evaluating product interfaces with competitive and best-in-class interfaces to drive continuous improvement in the product’s UI;
  • Identifying customer pain points in the user experience to isolate gaps and create delighter enhancements;
  • Working with cross-functional business and technical teams and key stakeholders to define highly effective, usable, and consistent user interfaces;
  • Interpreting usability principles and guidelines and use them to identify likely problems in user interfaces;
  • Driving the creation of mock ups, clickable prototypes, etc. before and during the development cycle for new features and capabilities;
  • Designing elegant solutions and simple to complex workflows leveraging customer iterative validation via support from the UX Research team;
  • Acting as the user advocate during the development process and offer suggestions from a user-centered perspective;
  • Working with the UX Research team during the usability testing processes. Collaborate with Product Managers, Development, QA, and customers to ensure UI meets product requirements and experience expectations;
  • Working with the UX Research team to conduct usability tests, interviews and site visits, organize surveys and perform other usability assessments as appropriate. Support the QA testing efforts to ensure the user experience requirements are fulfilled;
  • Following the company’s design system and best practices;
  • Enhancing reputation by sharing your expertise and knowledge outside of the company; promote accomplishments; explore opportunities to add value; and,
  • Staying up to date on the latest research regarding application design and usability; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • Three plus (3+) years of user experience design experience for web applications, mobile platforms and other standard technologies;
  • Experience using prototyping, wireframe, and visual design applications. Preferred: Sketch, InVision;
  • Experience engaging internal and external stakeholders and customers;
  • Experience working with a geographically dispersed team;
  • Familiarity with interface patterns, interaction behaviours, and design tends along with best practices in these areas in order to contribute to and improve the company design system;
  • Strong conceptualization ability, strong visual communication ability and attention to detail;
  • The ability to create wireframes, visual design comps and prototypes;
  • Experience with user interface fundamentals;
  • Open to sharing experiences and ‘new found’ knowledge with the UX team along with providing support and productive feedback to the wider UX team members;
  • Preferred mobile design experience. (Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, other mobile platforms);
  • Extensive experience in responsive design;
  • Understanding of common software development practices and proficiency working within a software development lifecycle (SDLC);
  • Experience working with Agile software development methodologies;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Self-starter; eager and able to quickly learn new technologies and approaches;
  • The ability to be self-reliant and communicate and contribute in a geographically dispersed team setting;
  • The ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize; and,
  • Professional demeanor at all times.
