Network Engineering Specialist

Eagle is currently seeking a Network Engineering Specialist for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in July.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Providing Developers with a highly robust and scalable cloud native software delivery platform, tooling, and flexible CI/CD framework;
  • Maintaining and building cloud infrastructure and managing enterprise components through codifying infrastructure, security, automation, and driving enablement;
  • Understanding of the overall business and developer processes;
  • Developing  tooling to automate repetitive tasks;
  • Developing and improving test automation frameworks and utilized techniques to speed up the QA;
  • Working with cutting-edge automation technologies such as Ansible, Tower, Selenium;
  • Writing maintainable, well-architected, re-usable code, and help guide others to do the same;
  • Building out a modern scalable IaC architecture through best practices and constantly look for ways to help improve and save engineers’ time and system reliability;
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional business teams;
  • Reporting, documenting, and communicating failures discovered through automation, resolve and automate;
  • Ensuring infrastructure tooling and automation is an enabler of organizational agility; and,
  • Ensuring services availability, reliability, and security.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • Completion of a Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities;
  • Experience in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and Azure cloud; ideally automating resources with code;
  • Experience with containerization (Docker), Container Registries (Azure Container Registry, Docker Hub, etc.), Windows and Linux container images, Orchestrator operating and administration (Docker Swarm or Kubernetes);
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience supporting Kubernetes (or Docker Swarm) clusters in a Production environment;
  • Knowledge in container networking on Docker;
  • Experience building and maintaining CI/CD workflows with Azure Pipelines (equivalent experience with alternative products such as TeamCity or Jenkins acceptable);
  • Extensive scripting experience in either PowerShell, Python,  C#, .NET or Bash;
  • Technical experience with one (1) or more virtualization and cloud technologies like VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V;
  • Experience with Chef, Puppet, TeamCity, Fabric, SaltStack is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant technologies used throughout the SDLC such as:
    • Source Control systems (in particular VSTS Git);
    • Deployment tools (such as AWS CodeDeploy, Octopus Deploy, etc.);
    • Centralized log indexing and aggregation tools (such as the ELK stack, Splunk, etc.);
    • Monitoring tools (such as the ELK stack, SCOM, HPE OpsBridge, SolarWinds, Cisco PRIME, Amazon CloudWatch, Nagios, Datadog, etc.);
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to logically analyze and creatively solve complex issues independently;
  • The ability to coach and mentor associates in the team with modern software techniques;
  • Experience working in a high-volume or critical production service environment;
  • Team player, with a great attitude and can adapt to change. You stay calm, poised and maintain your great sense of humor even in the face of big challenges;
  • Strong innovative thinking, creative problem solving and effective organizational skills to establish effective networks and creative approaches to Business Technologies;
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills;
  • Experience with strategic planning and project execution to manage multiple and changing priorities with competing deadlines;
  • Familiarity with the Agile Software Development process is desirable; and,
  • Successful track record of providing tooling and support for multiple development teams and/or large-scale distributed systems.
