Leader of Enterprise Architecture

Eagle is currently seeking an Enterprise Architecture Leader for a permanent job opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Creating and maintaining Solution Architecture governance, strategy, policies, standards, processes and procedures that support a DevOps environment;
  • Creating and maintaining Solution Architecture for the organization within the application, technology, data and security domains;
  • Documenting current, transition (architecture plateaus) and target architecture blueprints;
  • Aligning the technology roadmap with architecture standards;
  • Developing and administering an annual architecture review process;
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to delivery teams in the development of solutions;
  • Keeping awareness of emerging trends and integrate the ones that would benefit the client;
  • Providing project-based solution architecture, which ensures that the solution meets the required level of quality, business and IS requirements while at the same time represent the optimum way to deploy the solution into the target production environments;
  • Governing solution architecture and the architecture domains and ensuring that the respective business, application, data and technology perspectives are in line with the organization's technology and governance strategies, policies and standards;
  • Aligning the IS enterprise architecture to the client’s business strategy;
  • Crafting, communicating, and executing on the enterprise architecture future state vision and associated roadmap;
  • Developing the to-be architecture, document the current architecture, identifying gaps, develop a road map;
  • Communicating the enterprise architecture future state with business and IS staff on and explain how they align to this vision;
  • Monitoring technological advances for inclusion in the enterprise architecture roadmap;
  • Ensuring necessary architecture governance, policies, standards and processes are in place; this covers the Solution and Technical/Domain Architecture disciplines;
  • Leveraging an industry proven Architectural framework;
  • Right sizing the governance practices, balancing controls and efficient delivery in order to support a DevOps environment;
  • Reviewing existing architecture components and make recommendations for our future state;
  • Introducing and recommending architectural changes that result in more efficient software delivery and accelerated release cycles;
  • Ensuring architects are working closely with development/delivery teams and mentor those in designer roles;
  • Building collaborative and operationalize efficient governance processes;
  • Proactively engaging business resources as well as external IT resources;
  • Facilitating discussion and share technical knowledge;
  • Ensuring tight linkage to the needs of portfolio management, investment management, life cycle management and related processes;
  • Ensuring alignment and help foster rapid IS technology thought leadership;
  • Determining changes and opportunities that also reduce operational and support costs;
  • Identifying and championing architectural initiatives that are required to move the organization forward;
  • Leading project management and business owners through a process of narrowing a problem statement to settle on an overall scope and approach to solve it;
  • Providing solution sketches, rough cost estimates, and comparative viewpoints as supporting material to help make decisions;
  • Writing a formal Architecture Definition per solution where IT components and IS services are needed, filling any gaps, and shows traceability back to business and functional requirements;
  • Assisting with project management work breakdown structure planning, and ensure work package coverage is complete for realizing the whole solution;
  • Involvement during the development and implementation phases to ensure common understanding and solution is delivered as envisioned;
  • The section, development, and implementation of application framework to address business needs;
  • Leading projects from a technical aspect by providing solution analysis, planning, design and development, of new applications and enhancements to existing applications;
  • Providing architectural expertise, technical design, technical direction, and assistance within the application development team; and,
  • Integration Architecture Help to establish effective integration patterns.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma required in Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems,  or equivalent;
  • TOGAF certification or equivalent;
  • SAFe Architecture certification or equivalent;
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience leading the IT enterprise architecture function and team members;
  • Ten plus (10+) years' combined experience as an Architect in at least three (3) architecture domains; strong knowledge of the remaining domains;
  • Three plus (3+) years work experience as Solution and Application Architect;
  • Five plus (5+) years of employee management responsibilities;
  • Experience in leading the transformation to a micro-services API architecture is very valuable;
  • Experience in leading the architecture transformation to a DevOps delivery model is very valuable;
  • Experience in implementing and governing the adoption of industry data exchange models is very valuable;
  • Experience in strategic planning processes, roadmap creation and associated presentation materials;
  • Experience in the review and revision of enterprise architecture governance, strategy, policies, standards, processes and procedures;
  • Experience with the development and integration of applications and business systems;
  • Packaged system/application selection, implementation and integration experience;
  • Proven expertise with design of real-time transactional and data interactions between mission critical technology solutions and information stores;
  • Experience in a large organization, with high performance, large transactional systems;
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, problem solving, and written/verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to present and explain information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and promotes understanding and consensus;
  • Established track record working alongside senior management and executives to establish the best practices for selecting and adopting technology solutions that advance the overall business strategy; and,
  • The ability to participate in weekend or shift work, available to travel, etc.
