Information Security Architect

Eagle is currently seeking an Information Security Architect for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Leading the overall technical solution design in support of the client’s business objectives;
  • Managing the process of planning, engineering, acquiring, building, modifying and deploying security technologies to support the organization’s business activities;
  • A high level structure and behavior of applications and infrastructure services used by the business processes of the organization, focusing on how they interact with technology infrastructure, other applications and services as well as with users;
  • Linking information technology decision making and investments with the organization’s technology and business strategy;
  • Providing specialized technical advice and contributing to decisions on information technology policies, principles, services, standards, guidelines and common solutions for the betterment of the organization;
  • Designing, building, and implementing enterprise-class security systems for a production environment;
  • Aligning standards, frameworks, and security with overall business and technology strategy;
  • Designing security architecture elements to mitigate threats as they emerge;
  • Creating solutions that balance business requirements with information and cyber security requirements;
  • Identifying security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures and recommend changes or enhancements; and,
  • Using current programming language and technologies to writes code, complete programming and performs testing and debugging of applications.
Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:
  • A University Degree in Computer Science with ten (10) years of progressive experience in security architecture or a two (2) year Diploma in Computers from a Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS) accredited Community College and twelve (12) years of progressive experience in security architecture;
  • Knowledge of security controls;
  • Completion of one or more of the following Information security management professional designations is preferred:
    • TOGAF 9 Foundation;
    • SABSA Chartered Security Architect - Practitioner Certificate (SCP);
    • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP);
    • Certified Information Security Manager CISM);
    • Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC);
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA);
    • or other information security credentials;
  • The ability to weigh multiple and often conflicting considerations, including technical, business, security, privacy and financial, to determine the optimal overall solutions’ architecture;
  • The ability to develop solution architectures that meet current requirements while positioning for future growth, flexibility and trends;
  • Security architecture experience, including designing and implementing security solutions that align with standard architecture principles and emerging technologies. This includes continuously monitoring and making improvements to those solutions in collaboration with an information security team;
  • Experience in documenting application and infrastructure architectures including modelling using standard modelling tools;
  • Experience with a variety of system development life cycles, such as sequential, iterative and agile;
  • Proven experience in consulting and engineering in the development and design of security best practices and implementation of solid security principles across the organization, to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of security considerations for cloud computing including data breaches, broken authentication, hacking, account hijacking, malicious insiders, third parties, APTs, data loss and Denial of Service attacks;
  • In depth knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) – the framework of security policies and technologies that limit and track the access of those in an organization to sensitive technology resources;
  • The ability to plan and organize workloads;
  • Strong multi-tasking skills to manage multiple deadlines;
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and adapt to changing circumstances;
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment;
  • Excellent ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in order to convey complex information in a clear, concise and understandable manner;
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of staff and management in an efficient and courteous manner;
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in successfully leading project teams across departments and divisions;
  • Interest in and ability to learn new technologies; and,
  • The ability to understand business issues and communicate with business management.
