Eagle currently has a career opportunity for a Business Systems Analyst and we are looking to speak to qualified candidates with the skills and experience outlined below.

This position is a six (6)-month contract located in Toronto, ON to start immediately.

As the Business Systems Analyst, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support and producing detailed system requirements and technical/functional specifications in alignment with standards and frameworks;
  • Working in close partnership with business partners/technology/ project teams and stakeholders to elicit, analyze, document, communicate and manage detailed functional specifications
  • Developing effective and efficient solutions by researching/analyzing current state system capabilities and defining technology solutions options/recommendations working closely with key technology partners (e.g. Solution Architects and Quality Assurance staff);
  • Defining, documenting and translating business requirements into detailed functional specifications and non-functional specifications;
  • Supporting testing teams in translating requirements and use cases into test conditions and expected results for product, performance, user acceptance, and operational acceptance testing
  • Supporting and contributing to project management activities by participating in the scoping and estimating of project efforts, risks identification and mitigation measures recommendation, communicating activity status and providing timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems to the Project Manager;
  • Participating in quality management reviews, reviewing of the designs, prototypes and other requirements work products to ensure the requirements are fulfilled;
  • Supporting collaboration with key stakeholders to determine solutions, assessing the impact on existing work processes and systems, and how to manage the integration;
  • Providing operational / process-related analysis and support to various extents;
  • Ensuring best practices related to the BSA discipline are adhered to and enforced within project processes and deliverables;
  • Adhering to existing processes/standards including requirements management and project management disciplines, well-defined enterprise technology delivery practices and standards, and business technology architecture, escalating issues as required;
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge/expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies trends/developments and developing expertise in Company services, applications, infrastructure, analytical tools and techniques that can contribute to effective solution development/delivery;
  • Continuously enhancing knowledge of business domains and their products/services;
  • Supporting the development of business cases including benefits identification, RFI/RFP and service level agreements with vendors/suppliers consistent with technology requirements/guidelines;
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle;
  • Ability to perform BSA tasks effectively while assigned to a single project or multiple concurrent projects;
  • Prioritizing and managing own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines;
  • Supporting a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensuring the timely communication of issues/ points of interest;
  • Participating in knowledge transfer within the team and business units;
  • Coaching new or less experienced colleagues and act as a reference for the requirements management lifecycle; and,
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency of the business unit and/or team.

Skills and Qualifications:

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Seven (7) years of BSA experience;
  • Seven (7) years Data Mapping;
  • Three (3) years of SQL experience;
  • Knowledge of SQL, or Structured Query Language;
  • Strong knowledge of programming which is useful and often necessary, since the analysts may have to solve problems that ready-made software is not powerful or flexible enough to handle (e.g., Python);
  • The ability to speak to and interact with different audiences, including the business and executives;
  • Strong business knowledge;
  • Experience with Talend Data Catalog;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable working with both Business and Technical teams;
  • Ability to be a self-starter with the ability to multi-task effectively and independently within a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to gauge the appropriate level of priority and detail and/or effort on any given project;
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
  • Highly motivated with a proven track record of delivering results;
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail;
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to follow-up on issues independently and ensure they are resolved promptly, escalating when necessary;
  • Ability to coach
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of system analysis process and techniques
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of systems and applications supported by the team including system components, functionality, interfaces, data flows, and business rules
  • Advanced to Expert knowledge of enterprise technology delivery practices and standards and related expertise including design, development, testing and project management
  • Advanced understanding of business supported
  • Ability to work independently as the senior or lead system analyst and coaches/ guides members within area of expertise;
  • Subject matter expert and consults with clients and/or project teams;
  • Previous Financial Institution experience (an asset); and,
  • Scrum certification (an asset).
