Software Development Lead

Eagle is currently seeking a Developer Lead for a permanent job opportunity, scheduled to begin in December.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Inspiring members to grow and be successful;
  • Providing ongoing coaching and advise in developing member's career goals for junior to senior members;
  • Enabling continuous improvement to standards and templates, mentoring the professional development of members, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and commitment to maturing application development competencies;
  • Fostering and growing an open communication and continuous improvement culture;
  • Applying DevOps, Agile/SCRUM and continuous delivery practices;
  • Ensuring that the business needs are understood and result in increasing internal business satisfaction with solutions;
  • Leading the design and implementation of new Enterprise Components, review of development initiatives, and the test-driven development approach;
  • Demonstrating hands-on real-world examples and support to the Development team to work through technical challenges outside their skillsets;
  • Setting and enforcing policies and standards related to their assigned area;
  • Determining and adopting the appropriate body of knowledge for their COE (IT4IT, BABOK, TOGAF, ITIL, Scrum, Kanban, etc.);
  • Setting and ensuring standards of quality for work performed by members;
  • Managing current and planned future demands upon their COE;
  • Recruiting and staffing members in collaboration with HR and ISRPs;
  • Approving weekly timesheets including away time;
  • Job Posting Interface to HR;
  • Contributing to staff performance and development plans;
  • Fostering a culture of team collaboration and continuous improvement;
  • Promoting active listening with team members;
  • Promoting and supporting Peer Review of team deliverables, contributing to the development of consistent and effective documentation that adheres to team standards and templates;
  • Working on multiple competing projects, manage own time and schedule, can effectively control scope of own work to deliver before due dates; and,
  • Timely communication and escalates own issues and potential team issues appropriately.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • A Post- secondary education in Computer Technology or IT related discipline from an accredited institution;
  • Agile/Scrum experience;
  • Test Driven Development experience;
  • Five plus (5+) years’ hands-on demonstrated experience in a development delivery role;
  • Five plus (5+) years' hands-on design and development experience on either the .NET or J2EE platform architectures;
  • Three plus (3+) years' hands-on experience in managing or architecting solutions in a large organization;
  • Five plus (5+) years' hands-on design and development experience in distributed service-oriented architecture;
  • Experience in using different platforms, tools and technologies;
  • Experience developing, documenting, communicating, and enforcing policy for standardizing systems and software;
  • Experience reviewing and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems;
  • Experience providing design guidance, technical direction, and assistance within the application development streams;
  • Experience overseeing the design of reusable components to be leveraged across various applications within the organization;
  • Microsoft Certified Solution Developer;
  • Microsoft Certified Architect;
  • Sun Certified Enterprise Architect / or equivalent certification; and,
  • Sun Certified Java Developer / or equivalent certification;
