Eagle is currently seeking a Data Architects. This is a twenty-four (24) month, contract position scheduled to start in July.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing business and data requirements and interpreting these into an architectural design that is aligned to the company’s target state architecture;
  • Creating and documenting future state architectural options to address specific issues or initiatives;
  • Acting as subject matter expert and making recommendations and providing technical counsel as necessary;
  • Ensuring that architectural solution aligns with future state vision;
  • Developing data standard architecture deliverables such as conceptual architecture, logical architecture, reference architectures, and architecture decisions for large, medium-to-high complexity, projects that describes the business context for the initiative and will include the relevant application, business, data architecture components that will make up the entire solution;
  • Collaborating with integration team to define and implement standards for design and development and utilization of appropriate methodologies;
  • Designing and developing processes for source data ingestion, transformation, and database loading;
  • Providing expertise in data modeling, SQL reporting and data management;
  • Driving design, coding and other technical standards development and ensuring adherence to the standards in the domain;
  • Analyzing metadata to include business descriptions of the data, details of any calculations and summaries, descriptions of the sources, and indications of data quality and currency;
  • Leading resolution of data challenges in an enterprise environment;
  • Providing architecture governance to ensure that the agreed design is followed throughout the lifecycle of the project and is actively involved when variations occur;
  • Developing presentation material for reviews with business, ELT and Governance Committees;
  • Providing architecture artifacts and performs reviews of other’s;
  • Ensuring that solutions leverage published standards and architecture patterns, and assist with development of new patterns/standards when required;
  • Meeting and interfacing with business and IT managers on data architecture deliverables;
  • Leading role in developing the vision for a target state data architectures;
  • Developing and providing guidance to team on Reference/Enterprise Solution architectures; and,
  • Developing solution delivery approach for medium-to-high complexity intakes and Business Case estimation.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • University Degree or Equivalent preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, or Management Information Systems (MIS), or a relevant technical discipline;
  • Technical or Professional Qualifications or Certifications/Designations;
  • Ten (10) years of experience with IT experience preferably including five (5) years of information and data architecture experience, and five (5) years of data warehouse design;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment;
  • Solid understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and
    implementation methodologies;
  • Must have very good understanding of data warehouse methodologies including design patterns, data mapping, data integration, data testing and application performance tuning;
  • Excellent knowledge/experience with SQL;
  • Proficient in relational database management systems (RDBMS), data architecture, data modeling (including dimensional), data warehousing, Object Oriented Methodologies, and Client/Server development;
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, Extract, Transform, Load (ETL), Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS);
  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of information/data
    architecture;
  • Sound knowledge of architecture for: Business, Application, Integration, Security,
    Implementation and Migration;
  • Experience with business vision, strategy and roadmaps;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written
    communication skills; interpersonal, consensus building and negotiation skills; cost/benefit analysis;
  • Demonstrated commitment and proven ability to do effective stakeholder management;
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines;
  • Experience in developing architecture specifications for RFPs and participates in assessing bids and negotiating contracts/SLAs with service providers and vendors;
  • Strong oral and writing skills in English;
  • Solid understanding of Data Architecture and Data Management approaches and
    implementation methodologies;
  • Must have very good understanding of data warehouse methodologies including design patterns, data mapping, data integration, data testing and application performance tuning;
  • Excellent knowledge/experience with SQL;
  • Proficient in relational database management systems, data architecture, data modeling (including dimensional), data warehousing, Object Oriented Methodologies, and Client/Server development;
  • Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services packages, Extract, Transform, Load
    (ETL), Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS);
  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of information/data
    architecture;
  • Sound knowledge of architecture for: Business, Application, Integration, Security,
    Implementation and Migration;
  • Experience with business vision, strategy and roadmaps;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written
    communication skills; interpersonal, consensus building and negotiation skills, cost/benefit analysis;
  • Demonstrated commitment and proven ability to do effective stakeholder management;
  • A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines;
  • Experience in developing architecture specifications for RFPs and participates in assessing bids and negotiating contracts/SLAs with service providers and vendors;
  • Strong oral and writing skills in English;
  • Experience with working on $10M+ multi-year projects, in government settings or similar complex, multi-project/multi-client organizations;
  • Has participated in data conversion activities migrating legacy data sources;
  • Experience with Enterprise Architect tooling;
  • Solid understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA);
  • Experience in the use of data and process modelling methodologies, techniques and tools, including a working knowledge of metadata structures, repository functions, and data dictionaries;
  • Strong knowledge of structured, unstructured and semi-structured data;
  • Experience using data technologies to implement Master Data Management (MDM), Data Quality, Data Lakes, Big Data, Data Analytical tools, Internet of Things (IoT), Enterprise Content Management;
  • Experience in cloud-based delivery models and capabilities (i.e. IaaS, PaaS, SaaS);
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, and the ability to communicate architectural concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences;
  • High level of personal integrity, and the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show an appropriate level of judgment and maturity;
  • High degree of initiative, dependability and ability to work with little supervision; TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) methodology or ArchiMate or similar certification and training (an asset).
