Eagle is currently seeking a Network Administrator. This is a twelve (12) month, contract position scheduled to start in February.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Specifying network system requirements and design solutions;
  • Providing technical oversight of a multi-site enterprise level WAN, including planning, implementation and expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
  • Ensuring network security and connectivity by analyzing and monitoring server and network security and making recommendations to implement patches and fixes to address potential security holes;
  • Monitoring network performance including availability, utilization, throughput and latency, and testing for weaknesses;
  • Recommending, testing and installing upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment;
  • Designing, deploying, and administering the wireless infrastructure and supporting systems;
  • Configuring network devices for new deployments per direction of senior staff;
  • Configuring replacement network devices from backup configuration files;
  • Administering and maintaining IP based telephony systems, such as provisioning handsets, setting up extensions and supporting user requests;
  • Defining and documenting network policies and procedures;
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts;
  • Preparing and maintaining documentation regarding daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance and reporting schedules;
  • Researching and recommending innovative, and where possible automated, approaches for network and system administration tasks;
  • Performing diagnostics of network issues, providing support for service desk staff;
  • Assisting in supporting network servers and internal corporate servers;
  • Assisting in user desktop issues, helping with computer software installation, solving email access and routing issues, assisting with desktop backup and archiving;
  • Providing on-call and weekend support when needed;
  • Training team members on new hardware or software; and,
  • Other duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science;
  • Four to six (4 – 6) years’ experience in a similar role in a medium to large organization;
  • Three (3) plus years’ experience with VMWare vSphere and vCenter 5.5+;
  • One (1) years Experian with Hyper convergence SAN storage and replication, Nutanix, Acropolis and Prism;
  • Experience with Windows Server and Active Directory;
  • Hands on experience in networking, routing and switching;
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of networks and servers;
  • Ability to set up and configure server hardware;
  • Ability to organize, priorities and multitask own work load;
  • In depth understanding of computer systems, peripherals, and communications equipment;
  • In depth knowledge of computer networking and cabling infrastructure;
  • In depth knowledge of communication systems for data, voice and video;
  • Positive attitude towards complex challenges and problems as well as routine maintenance and administration tasks;
  • Strong inter-personal skills with a polished and professional manner;
  • Ability to take existing processes, procedures and checklists and improve on them;
  • Comfortability dealing with all levels of management;
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and work independently or as a member of a team;
  • Ability to be a self-starter who can prioritize project and task-based work in a demanding environment;
  • Organization skills, motivation and ability to be self-directed with good time management skills;
  • Ability to work according to and within parameters defined in corporate policies and standard operating procedures;
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Ability to work effectively as both a member of a team and independently;
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to business leaders and groups in a clear and concise manner;
  • Ability to promote a collaborative and consultative process when determining the right solution for the company;
  • Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives;
  • Knowledge of applicable practices and laws relating to data privacy and protection;
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides;
  • Ability to work after hours and on weekends as determined by the project; and,
  • Experience with firewalls, Internet VPN’s remote implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution (an asset).
