Eagle is currently seeking a Solution Architect for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in February.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Playing a key role in the delivery of all data projects and programs driving strategic transformational change;
  • Acting as a key contributor to the design and implementation of highly secure and reliable information management solutions across the organization;
  • Ensuring that the solutions delivered are engineered in accordance with security, wide usability, and good data governance;
  • Implementing an end to end vision for data, using the latest tools and technologies;
  • Assessing and evaluating technical solutions that will address the client’s requirements;
  • Managing the balance between perfect architecture solutions and delivering value to the business in a timely manner;
  • Designing the technical architecture, application design and development, testing and deployment of the proposed solution; and,
  • Contributing to the development of RFIs, RFPs, business cases, estimates, and technical architecture documents.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Experience in architecture, design, application development, and systems integration;
  • Experience designing and implementing complex, end-to-end solutions;
  • Experience in architecture and design of distributed, multi-tier applications using open industry standards such as SOAP, XML, HTTP, etc.;
  • Object-oriented and Unified Modeling Language (UML) knowledge and experience;
  • Experience with solutions implemented across multiple environments and platforms including Windows, UNIX, AIX, Linux, zOS using multiple software products such as IBM WebSphere, BEA WebLogic, IBM MQSeries, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM DB2;
  • Demonstrated experience with JAVA-based application design, technologies (Servlets, EJB, JDBC, JMS, Swing, Java Security); mainframe systems (IBM z/OS, CICS, COBOL); XML and related technologies (XSL/T, XML Schema); Web services including SOAP, UDDI, XML, WSDL; Messaging / middleware, IBM WebSphere MQSeries, and Microsoft .NET application design, technologies;
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and comprehend complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements, and industry information affecting the environment;
  • The ability to strategically assess and mitigate the impact on the client’s vision when directing the implementation of new or changing policies and processes;
  • Excellent customer service, leadership, communication, problem solving, and decision making skills;
  • Highly developed facilitation and negotiation skills, including an ability to foster strong relationships with and manage external parties;
  • Experience with architecture and system design within an Agile project methodology;
  • Experience implementing solutions across multiple platforms and subsystems such as Windows, AIX, Linux, Microsoft SQL Server (including SSIS and SSRS), IBM DB2, Informatica, SharePoint, etc.;
  • Experience implementing solutions using Big Data platforms such as IBM Big Insights, Apache Hadoop;
  • Experience implementing solutions incorporating components from third party cloud based service providers;
  • Experience in the architecture and design of distributed applications using open standards and tools i.e. Spark, Kafka, ZooKeeper Hive, HBase, and REST, SOAP, OAuth, etc.;
  • The ability to interpret and refine business requirements using a variety of mediums (i.e. interviewing stakeholders, prototyping, etc.);
  • The ability to be adept at recognizing patterns in business processes and discovering common features as candidates for potential software/service re-usability;
  • The ability to develop high level design documents addressing the business, infrastructure, security, support and operational needs of a solution;
  • Demonstrated capacity for problem solving, synthesis, and making sound recommendations and decisions;
  • Demonstrated experience with service based architectures i.e. Service Oriented Architecture, microservices, etc. with focus on delivery through web-based technologies;
  • General understanding of Enterprise Architecture (EA) and the TOGAF framework with the ability to contribute to the development of EA artifacts;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including polished presentation skills with the ability to deliver technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences in a clear and understandable manner;
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead assignments/teams and mentor others;
  • Work experience in an IT Architecture role. Should include several assignments that span the entire application development lifecycle including: defining requirements, architecture, prototyping, software and/or user interface design, database design, and/or testing, implementation and technical documentation;
  • Previous experience with/integrating with the following considered beneficial: SAP Banking Services, Major CRM, BPM and ECM systems;
  • Previous experience with Architecture Modeling tools such as Power Designer or ARIS IT Architect would be beneficial;
  • TOGAF or SAP Enterprise Architecture certifications would be an asset; and,
  • Process consulting certifications (i.e. Six Sigma, ITIL) would be an asset.
