Eagle is currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst. This is a twelve (12) month, contract position scheduled to start in January.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Defining and utilizing relevant business analysis techniques and methodologies to perform solution analysis and design;                                         
  • Conducing requirements/features management such as requirements traceability and baselining;
  • Conducting enterprise analysis such as benchmark studies, feasibility analysis and SWOT;
  • Conducting requirements elicitation such as prototyping, reverse engineering, focus groups and interviews;
  • Conducting requirements/features analysis such as analyzing requirements, constructing workflow charts and diagrams, studying system capabilities, writing specifications, process modeling, organization modeling and use cases;
  • Conducting solution assessment and validation including support of user acceptance testing, defect and issue reporting;
  • Developing business validation test cases as appropriate;
  • Developing functional designs or detailed user stories;
  • Assisting the Product Owner (“PO”) where needed to help identify Business Rules, Acceptance Criteria, Success and Negative Path;
  • Driving the definition, optimization, improvement, and approved changes to new and existing business processes and IT solutions via development of business and functional requirements;
  • Identifying the current and future-state business processes;
  • Helping the business stakeholders envision the future and how their work will need to change to support the future;
  • Determining operational objectives by studying critical business functions (“CBFs”), gathering information, evaluating output requirements and formats;
  • Providing continuous improvement services to improve existing business processes and informing the Business Solution Delivery leadership team of potential continuous improvement opportunities;
  • Managing process conformance and compliance as appropriate;
  • Recommending controls by identifying problems and writing improved procedures;
  • Supporting change management activities;
  • Identifying any gaps between current and future state processes and preparing all documentation as it relates to business process mapping;
  • Articulating differences in current and future state in a non-technical manner;
  • Contextualizing changes and developing recommendations on training based on complexity and degree of change;
  • Identifying gaps between current and future process and updating all Enterprise procedure documents;
  • Preparing technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends;
  • Assisting with testing end-to-end solution within Sprint in a Scrum environment as appropriate;
  • Identifying risks and informing the Business Solution Delivery leadership team of potential mitigations; and,
  • Providing requirements, stories clarifications and support to QA team as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • University degree in business or information systems or equivalent experience or combination thereof;
  • Experience in contributing to the success of a range of small-to-medium initiatives with escalating levels of complexity and business criticality;
  • Experience in a business analyst role and in other relevant roles within IT;
  • Experience delivering functionality in an Agile/Scrum environment;
  • Exposure to Change Management in technology implementations;
  • Experienced in effectively interacting and communicating with business teams;
  • Ability to consolidate business requirements and translate them into IT deliverables;
  • Familiarity with business engineering system concepts and principles as well as complex modeling techniques, ability to align business unit sub-processes to enterprise business processes and ability to lead functional requirement walk through and quality reviews;
  • Ability to identify the effectiveness and completeness of business and technology strategies and ensure alignment with IT and other applicable cross-organization strategies;
  • Deep knowledge of business context and mode of operations;
  • Familiarity with workflow concepts and how they integrate with application solutions in a cross-application context;
  • Knowledge of functions, features and facilities of applicable programming languages;
  • Ability to support the determination of estimates, level of effort and cost, staffing, deployment strategy and work breakdown structure;
  • Ability to identify and evaluate risks and participate in mitigation and control activities;
  • Ability to author architectural solution documents;
  • Ability to participate in the definition of a change release strategy for application change initiatives;
  • Ability to write Technical Design documents which includes but not limited to sequence, data flow and process flow diagrams to support all the development work;
  • Graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) (an asset); and,
  • Certifications as a Certified business analysis professional (CBAP), BABOK, ITIL foundations and TOGAF (an asset).
