Eagle is currently seeking a Network Specialist. This is a six (6) month, contract position scheduled to start in January.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team to design, implement and support several campus networks; 
  • Developing and implementing environment migrations and upgrades;  
  • Researching information and collaborating with other support areas as necessary to develop comprehensive solutions;
  • Developing and implementing standards for capacity, monitoring and delivery of this service to the customer;
  • Handling incident, problem and change management functions;
  • Working independently to evaluate symptoms and determine root cause of complex issues;
  • Utilizing technical knowledge and discretion to rapidly determine an appropriate course of recovery action when a problem occurs;
  • Mentoring junior staff on technology upgrades and operational support; and,
  • Rotating on call support after hours, which is scheduled coverage with other team members.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent;
  • Ten (10) plus years hands on Cisco, HPE or another network equipment vendor; 
  • Performance tuning and capacity management expertise;
  • Deep technical expertise to resolve complex issues within the environment;
  • Ability to handle high severity critical incidents independently with very limited assistance;
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with the account, customer, and other support teams;
  • Cisco or other network certification (an asset);
  • Network security certification (an asset);
  • Experience with network routing, switching and wireless (an asset);
  • Experience with network management applications (an asset);
  • Familiarity with firewalls, proxy, authentication servers and load balancers (an asset); and,
  • Familiarity with virtualized server and desktop environments (an asset).
