Eagle is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer for an eight (8) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Java Developer 

  • Work within a development team in a multi-platform enterprise environment;
  • Work within integration team to develop the integration between the Aspen Student Information System (SIS) and the Ministry system;
  • Work with Data Conversion team in analyzing the data deployed to the Aspen database;
  • Make integration recommendations and propose solutions based on the business requirements related to integration;
  • Produce technical design documents /diagrams;
  • Develop detailed integration specifications;
  • Provide time estimates on selected solution approach;
  • Work closely with integration developers and data analyst to ensure compliance with requirements;
  • Design and test integration information flow between systems;
  • Provide support throughout development and release of the solution;
  • Work closely with the Azure team architects in defining and implementing the integrated solution;
  • Attend client meetings when requested and play a key role in interpreting the business requirement and the data for the integration;
  • Assist with defining and interpreting integration business requirements;
  • Liaise directly with the client for clarification on integration design detail;
  • Assist with troubleshooting issues from User Acceptance Testing;
  • Involved in every step of the system life cycle (design, development, implementation and operations);
  • Design, develop and test customized Java to build out the integration;
  • Design, develop and test customized procedures supporting the MySchoolSask Import and Export for integration;
  • Work in an Agile/Scrum development team environment and apply DevOps best practices;
  • Document work as required following development standards;
  • Provide accurate development effort estimates;
  • Strong in data analysis, analytical thinking and communication;
  • Ability to troubleshoot the application and provide root cause analysis;
  • Take the lead in providing technical expertise on integration;
  • Team player with good communication skills.

Skills and Qualifications of a Senior Java Developer 

  • Five to ten (5-10) years of strong analytical skills with data and technology;
  • Five to ten (5-10 years of design, develop and test customized Java;
  • Design and test integration information flow between systems;
  • Provide support throughout development and release of the solution;
  • Make recommendations based on the business requirements related to integration;
  • Take lead in providing technical integration specifications;
  • Experience with detailed business requirement gathering and creating functional specifications;
  • Relational database experience;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills (English);
  • DevOps, Agile, Scrum, Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS);
  • Documentation Skills;
  • Fast learner and ability to retain knowledge;
  • Team player with good communication skills;
  • Ability to think and act independently and to thrive in a dynamic environment;
  • Experience working on Student Information Systems (desirable);
  • Experience working on a project with multiple teams co-located in different time zones (desirable);
  • Experience with web technologies, HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, JSP. (desirable).
