Eagle is currently seeking a Technical Advisor– Service Assurance Delivery. This is a six (6) month, contract position scheduled to start in February.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Working within teams of various projects;
  • Ensuring all technical aspects are answered and addressed;
  • Participating in system requirements specification phase in order to assess the impacts to the lab infrastructure of the service assurance domain, following the implementation and introduction of a given network technology;
  • Actively participating in the design and the implementation phases including environment setup;
  • Capacity planning and defining of the performance testing plan and overseeing the execution of the performance testing;
  • Working on the lab infrastructure (50+ servers) within the service assurance domain;
  • Supporting and monitoring the heterogeneous infrastructure such as HPUX, Solaris, Linux and Windows and resolving and troubleshooting issues as they arise;
  • Supporting a common backup solution for the all the applications and servers within our domain; and,
  • Participating in projects and technical documentation.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Bachelor or Master of electrical or computer engineering or computer science;
  • Bachelor or Masters in telecommunications and network engineering;
  • Four (4) years’ experience with a Systems Admin background;
  • Experience with Unix, Linux and Solaris shell scripting;
  • Knowledge of system administration in Linux/UNIX, Windows and OS troubleshooting;
  • Knowledge of software installation and management in Apache, JBoss and Wildfly;
  • Knowledge of DNS, SMTP, FTP/SFTP and SSH;
  • Knowledge of scripting with shell, perl, awk and python;
  • Knowledge of hardware including Sun, HP and IBM;
  • Knowledge of containers such as Docker, Kubernetese and OpenShift;
  • Knowledge of CI/CD, Jenkins, uDeploy and Ansible;
  • Experience with monitoring, Dynatrace, DCRUM, Kibana, Elasticsearch, Logstash and Beats (ELK);
  • Experience with databases Oracle (mainly), MongoDB, MySQL, SQL Server and Teradata;
  • Experience building and using SQL, PL/SQL and ETL;
  • Experience with software such as Apache Kafka, Confluence, Web Services / SOA and N-Tier Architectures;
  • Experience in administration of multi-tier and complex environment;
  • Experience with clustering, high-availability and DRP including planning and execution;
  • Experience with any OO language such as Java- mainly, C/C++, Javascript and Python;
  • Experience with any markup language such as HTML + CSS, XML and SGML;
  • Knowledge of IP stacks and protocol analysis tools;
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to uncover troubles rapidly and provide resolution;
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to quickly determine the problem space and organize it into simple components through data mining, statistical analysis and quantitative analysis;
  • Strong technical writing skills and ability to write clearly and concisely;
  • Proven leadership and organization skills;
  • Excellent ability to articulate and document technical concepts to non-technical audience;
  • Ability to be autonomous, have a strong tolerance to ambiguity and excellent capacity for applied learning;
  • Ability to efficiently work in virtual teams, handling multiple projects;
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and evenings to meet hard deadlines and availability to work occasional overnights to take part in deployment activities;
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, changing working environment;
  • Experience with programming and markup languages (an asset);
  • Experience with PL, SQL and SQL, creation, migration and optimization (an asset);
  • Experience building or customizing multi-tiered Java EE applications (an asset);
  • IT Security in OS, Network and Application;
  • General understanding of network protocols, including TCP, IP and SNMP (an asset); and,
  • Bilingualism (an asset).
