Client Server Developer

Eagle is currently seeking a Client Server Developer. This is a three (3) month, contract position scheduled to start in November.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting technical and systems analysis, design, development, unit testing, system integration testing, implementation and support of software applications, using existing and emerging technology platforms;
  • Assuring that documented standards and procedures are adhered to and ensuring the smooth interpretability of the applications;
  • Collaborating with IT Platform Management and working with the business to obtain the necessary clarity of the requirements at a function point context;
  • Working with project managers, sponsors and other stakeholders to develop and plan technical strategies, agree upon project priorities and deliver applications that support business requirements;
  • Systems integration testing of applications prior to code release to Quality Assurance; 
  • Working with managers to assure continuing professional development for both technical and soft skills and that of the teams;
  • Training others, participating in company and industry working groups, and encouraging learning, sharing culture that supports development of innovative and effective business solutions;  
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the businesses they support along with well-developed people and project management skills;
  • Applying skills either within a narrow business focus or broadly across the firm;
  • Providing functional and technical leadership to own team;
  • Working on multiple large or complex projects;
  • Making technical decisions;
  • Articulating and communicating the application architecture;
  • Technical consulting and mentoring to others within and outside own group;
  • Overseeing technical and functional documentation;
  • Understanding impact of integrating third party solutions to overall systems architecture;
  • Managing process for determining deliverables, resources, and schedules;
  • Overseeing the development components under their management;
  • Managing small to medium technical issues to resolution;
  • Leading the technical design, development and implementation of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems;
  • Analyzing, defining and documenting requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment;
  • Contributing to defining time tables and project plans;
  • Analyzing and estimating feasibility, cost, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs;
  • Ensuring that expected application performance levels are achieved;
  • Extending the leadership of the coding, system testing, implementation and documentation of solution;
  • Taking lead for establishing, implementing and monitoring "best practices" for technical development methodologies and tools;
  • Reviewing and approving unit and integration testing for conformance to standards and adherence to design specifications;
  • Leading the development of design requirements, designs, tests, document and implements systems and programs;
  • Extending expertise across multiple technical domains;
  • Influencing the development of plans and processes;
  • Building understanding of industry trends and practices for areas of domain expertise;
  • Contributes to the development of standards in areas of domain expertise;
  • Extending awareness of risks associated with application development and of potential impacts within IT, the business, and the firm's reputation;
  • Incorporating risk planning and mitigation into work efforts;
  • Determining staffing requirements and selecting team members; and,
  • Signing off on code reviews.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Undergraduate degree or technical certificate;
  • Six to eight (6 – 8) years equivalent experience;
  • Experience with Java, Scripting (linux), XML, Web Services and Oracle database;
  • Ability to be self-sufficient;
  • Extensive implementation experience; and,
  • Skills in Documentum (an asset).
