Lagan Software Developer

Eagle is currently seeking a Lagan Software Developer. This is a seven (7) month, contract position scheduled to start in November.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the upgrade of Lagan R14 to R15;
  • Assisting with testing of Lagan on Windows 10;
  • Providing support and maintenance for Lagan in current state when required;
  • Installing, configuring, and testing the latest version of Lagan on Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016;
  • Rolling out and supporting the new version once fully tested;
  • Documenting the upgrade process;
  • Configuring Lagan web server and supporting in relation to the upgrade;
  • Providing complete knowledge transfer to the Citizen Services Management team;
  • Conducting Lagan application testing both current version and the new version with
    Windows 10 and document test results;
  • Actioning client requests for fixes and enhancements in accordance with current ITS
    policies such as the change management policy;
  • Writing new code or making changes to existing Lagan application code to correct
    errors such as corrective maintenance;
  • Enhancing and where possible automating support tasks by analyzing, designing, and
    implementing scripts, small programs and database components;
  • Write SQL scripts, PL/SQL procedures for data changes, data fixes and ad-hoc
    reports as required;
  • Completing necessary application enhancements that are part of the upgrade;
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance activities;
  • Performing integration activities; and,
  • Providing knowledge transfer to staff using strong English oral and written
    communication skills.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Three-year university degree or three-year college diploma in Information
    Management, Information Technology, or related discipline;
  • Java certification;
  • Five (5) years’ experience in architecting, designing, and building large scale
    distributed services-oriented systems and web applications in an agile
    environment;
  • Five (5) years’ experience supporting and maintaining large scale/enterprise level
    applications;
  • Five (5) years’ experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON, and JQuery;
  • Five (5) years of application development experience using Java framework and
    SOAP/REST based web-services;
  • Three (3) years’ experience developing Oracle SQL and PL/SQL procedures;
  • Three (3) years of System Integration experience;
  • Understanding how various business systems work together to solve complex business problem and ability to walk through the architecture at a high level;
  • Knowledge of Web Accessibility principles, Accessibility for Ontarians with
    Disabilities Act (AODA), and experience building Web Content Accessibility
    Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA compliant websites;
  • Strong presentation skills;
  • Strong technical writing skills;
  • Leadership skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Experience using technologies such as Java 8, Tomcat 8, Oracle RDBMS, TFS, IIS Web Server, Windows server 2012 R2 and Windows server 2016; and,
  • Experience with FTP/SFTP jobs, Windows Batch Jobs, Internet Explorer 8 and above, Ajax and XML.
