Eagle is currently seeking two (2) Platform Technical Designers for six (6) month contract opportunities, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing and developing technical designs that accurately translate business requirements and solution architecture to technology, platform and network components, and configuration specifications;
  • Creating, evaluating, and recommending platform and network designs that incorporate business, technology, roadmap, costs, scalability, security, and performance requirements;
  • Collaborating with architecture on the technical designs to ensure it complies with enterprise architectural standards and future roadmaps;
  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Delivery Teams to implement a design that will meet project constraints;
  • Analyzing input from monitoring, application, and systems documentation to identify additional requirements;
  • Translating solution architecture into platform design;
  • Assessing and articulating and impacts of designs on existing production systems configuration and monitoring for alignment with technical design;
  • Providing guidance and coaching to other delivery team members on changes throughout the design process;
  • Creating recommendations for management, business, and delivery teams to guide and improve quality of systems delivery with innovations and design practices;
  • Proactively advising management on existing and emerging technical problems and present possible solutions to ensure system stability and security;
  • Consulting with Delivery and Operations teams to assist with problem resolution;
  • Reviewing and maintaining platform and network technology roadmap in collaboration with architecture;
  • Recognizing opportunities for reuse, dependencies and interactions between technology and projects;
  • Taking ownership of resolving issues and conflicts;
  • Implementation and oversite of implementation of systems in alignment with architectural and design principles;
  • Working collaboratively with various implementation teams when needed to deliver systems and technology;
  • Developing and communicating standards for consistent systems delivery;
  • Reviewing change requests that affect platform and network specifications;
  • Proactively identifying end of support life for platform and network technologies and provide recommendations for refresh;
  • Reviewing, monitoring, and performance data and make recommendations to improve availability, capacity, and performance;
  • Creating capacity estimates for approved projects and collaborate with infrastructure operations teams to identify when additional capacity is needed; and,
  • Identifying opportunities to reclaim or reuse infrastructure capacity to optimize resource utilization.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidates must have:

  • Computer Systems Engineering or related technical Diploma;
  • Seven plus (7+) years’ experience in implementing IT projects;
  • Seven plus (7+) years' experience designing and implementing technical designs;
  • Seven plus (7+) years' experience with network and virtualization technologies;
  • Experience with definition and implementation of integrated computer systems in a highly virtualized environment;
  • Three plus (3+) years' experience with programming and scripting technologies (i.e. .NET, PowerShell, Bash);
  • Experience with private or hybrid cloud computing delivery (i.e. VMWare, Azure, AWS);
  • Experience with computer systems performance analysis;
  • Experience with F5 Big-IP design and implementation;
  • Experience with inter-VRF routing and troubleshooting;
  • Experience with firewalls, IDS, and IPS;
  • Familiarity with technology systems architecture and systems engineering concepts;
  • Familiarity working in DevOps and Agile team environments;
  • Familiarity with Cloud Computing delivery models and associated concepts; and,
  • Broad technical knowledge of application software platforms, Operating Systems, virtualization, computer hardware, networks, and storage.

The following certifications are desirable:

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Server Infrastructure;
  • VMWare Certified Design Expert – Data Center Virtualization;
  • Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Design Specialist;
  • F5 Certified Technology Specialist;
  • Systems / Network Design certificate;
  • Systems Security certificate; and,
  • ITIL Foundations.
