Eagle is currently seeking a Software Developer - Java. This is a six (6) month, contract position scheduled to start in September.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing and maintaining complex software solution based on system design and technologies such as Java, J2EE, SOA and Node JS;
  • Designing, analyzing impacts and documenting the proposed solution;
  • Creating and updating documentation deliverable according to the methodology;  
  • Coaching and supporting junior developers that are on site;
  • Level 3 dupport of production applications;  
  • Contributing to the development and design estimation and underlying hypothesis;  
  • Supporting the project manager and the delivery lead on the development aspect;  
  • Contributing, documenting and following the software deployment in different sets of environments;
  • Demonstrating excellent abilities in verbal and written communication to colleagues, management and external partners;
  • Demonstrating innovation, creativity, initiative, organization, autonomy and collaborative works; 
  • Adapting quickly when facing new technology; 
  • Using JAVA, WLS, Websphere, Node JS, Oracle, AS400, MQ series and data power;
  • Using UML design;
  • Using XML and associated technologies such as xml schemas, xml namespaces, xpath and xslt;
  • Working with RDBMS, Oracle, MSSQL, DB2 and SQL; 
  • Continuous integration;
  • Demonstrating knowledge and experience of unit test frameworks; and,  
  • Demonstrating knowledge and experience of automated build frameworks.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • Bilingualism (French conversational / English fluent written and verbal);
  • Five (5) years’ experience in Java development and design experience;
  • Five (5) years’ experience using Java, J2EE and SOA;
  • Five (5) years’ experience supporting Level 3; 
  • Two (2) years’ experience using Node JS;
  • Three (3) years’ experience with Oracle WebLogic Server and IBM Websphere;
  • Three (3) years’ experience using IBM AS400 and MQ series;
  • Three (3) years’ experience using IBM data power;
  • Three (3) years’ experience with UML design;
  • There (3) years’ experience using XML, xml schemas, xml namespaces, xpath and xslt;
  • Five (5) years’ experience with RDBMS, Oracle, MSSQL and DB2);
  • Five (5) years’ experience with Jenkins and Sonar for continuous integration;
  • Three (3) years’ experience using Maven;
  • Three (3) years’ experience unit testing frameworks;
  • Three (3) years’ experience in automated build frameworks;
  • Three (3) years’ experience documenting through SDLC, designing, analyzing impacts and documenting the proposed solution;
  • Three (3) years’ experience coding documentation;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Knowledge of insurance systems (an asset); and,
  • Ability to act in a lead capacity (an asset).
