Eagle is currently seeking two (2) Scrum Master Leads for six (6) month contract opportunities, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Creating and leading high-performing cross-functional teams to develop and ensure successful operation of Business and Member value through information, systems, and technology;
  • Coaching the team, the product owner, and the organization on Agile, Scrum, and DevOps best practices;
  • Creating and maintaining the conditions that allow the team to be successful;
  • Keeping the team focused on delivering work items and fulfilling goals negotiated with the Product Owner and team members;
  • Facilitating communication, empowering the team to continually self-optimize their processes, ensuring that the team has the resources that it needs, and removing any impediments to the team (issue resolution) in a timely manner;
  • Facilitating the use of Agile/SCRUM Framework ceremonies and activities;
  • Promoting DevOps, Agile/SCRUM, and continuous delivery practices;
  • Facilitating negotiation and focuses team delivery on minimum viable solution;
  • Facilitating the various meetings/SCRUM ceremonies (daily stand-up meetings, planning meetings, demos, modeling sessions, and retrospectives);
  • Recognizing impediments and working to resolve them as quickly as possible;
  • Facilitating definition of done negotiations enabling higher product quality and continuous integration/continuous development (CI/CD);
  • Ensuring delivery follows best practices, including secure software development practices;
  • Ensuring that the necessary business, technical, and subject matter skills are included within the team and utilized appropriately;
  • Supporting and encouraging team members to make decisions, get the help they need, and take ownership of their commitments;
  • Protecting the team from interruptions and external interferences;
  • Transferring knowledge and help teams become more effective in their roles increasing the outcome, collaboration and quality practices;
  • Collaborating and partnering within and beyond one's team, building productive relationships to attain collaborative solutions;
  • Coordinating plans and potentially resources with other Leads, assisting in managing dependencies between streams;
  • Defining performance goals and perform assignment reviews for team members;
  • Supporting techniques for effective backlog management and working closely with the product owner to ensure a healthy backlog is created and maintained/refined with a mindset of Agile development;
  • Providing cross training to other value stream team members in the facilitation and leadership of activities to expand team members' knowledge in those areas;
  • Actively expanding technical and process knowledge and skills based on any new demands encountered by team as appropriate to their role as leader and needs of the team;
  • Tracking trends on velocity, defect, and relevant stream quality metrics; and,
  • Contributing to knowledge bases, collaborating with other members to facilitate increasing maturity and effectiveness in the application of Agile/Scrum/DevOps principles across the organization.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidates must have:

  • A University, College, or Technical Degree in Information Technology or Business;
  • Certified Scrum Master, Professional Scrum Master, Agile Practitioner designation is an asset;
  • A minimum of seven (7) years’ management experience leading a development team in a medium to large sized organization;
  • Five plus (5+) years’ Information Technology experience;
  • Three plus (3+) years’ experience utilizing Agile, Scrum, or DevOps in a leadership role;
  • Advanced knowledge and the application of Agile practices and principles, incremental delivery and experience with metrics to effectively measure execution, performance, benefits, and value;
  • Working knowledge of iterative development, DevOps, Agile, and continuous delivery practices;
  • Working knowledge of Agile Project Management tools such as LeanKit, Jira, or equivalent;
  • Experience with large scale software delivery and/or Agile transformation at scale in large enterprise organizations is an asset;
  • On the job experience as a Developer or Tester is an asset;
  • Experience in the Financial industry is an assert;
  • Experience working with ITIL is an asset;
  • A passion for Agile knowing when and how to advocate, with the ability to temper this enthusiasm in the context of a large, organizational transformation;
  • Leadership skills to help lead the team to build valuable and deliverable solutions every iteration;
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize and multitask in a dynamic environment, adapt quickly to change and manage multiple demands simultaneously;
  • Strong facilitation, analysis, problem solving, networking, and interpersonal skills; and,
  • The ability to work weekend or shift work and travel.
