Eagle is currently seeking a Microsoft SQL Report Developer for a twelve (12) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities of a Microsoft SQL Report Developer

  • Liaise with Systems Administrators, Technical Analysts and other technical staff to assist in resolving problems with reports;
  • Receives and responds to requests for assistance and support from the Help Desk;
  • Consistently code reports according to specifications and development standards;
  • Tests or leads the testing of new reports and supports users in the implementation of application modifications and enhancements;
  • Design, run and monitor performance tests on new and existing reports for the purposes of correcting errors, isolating areas for improvement, and general debugging;
  • Generate statistics and write reports for management and/or team members on the status of the programming process;
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software improvements and upgrades working within the constraints of the change management process;
  • Participates in the preparation of standards and procedures for the development process including translating technical documentation into user terms for the user manuals;
  • Ensures compliance with policies, procedures and quality assurance standards;
  • Designs, prepares and presents training programs and modules for Company staff;
  • Other duties as may be required.

Skills and Qualifications of a Microsoft SQL Report Developer

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience within the field;
  • College diploma or University degree in the field of computer science, information systems or software engineering and/or five plus (5+) years equivalent work experience;
  • Ability to work directly with users and create and document report specifications;
  • Excellent programming skills in MSSQL database T-SQL;
  • Demonstrate ability to work with technical architect, business analyst and end users to understand requirements and design;
  • Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans;
  • Solid working knowledge of current Internet technologies, including HTML, JavaScript, XML, REST, SOAP;
  • Experience with source code control tools such as Visual source safe, CVS, SVN, Git, Mercurial;
  • Strong understanding of SDLC Methodologies including Agile and Waterfall;
  • XML, MS Office Suite and MS SQL Server 2008/2012;
  • Essential knowledge (4+ years in each area);
  • Relational Database skills (SQL Server 2012/2014);
  • Data Analysis (Logical and Physical Design);
  • Experience in data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modeling) and data mining;
  • In-depth understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing;
  • (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework;
  • Familiarity with BI technologies (e.g. Microsoft Power BI);
  • SQL (Stored Procedures, Functions, Queries, Views);
  • Reporting Services (SQL Server Reporting Services, SSRS);
  • Experience with SSIS;
  • Windows operating system and Microsoft office suite;
  • Display a positive attitude towards complex challenges and problems as well as routine maintenance and administration tasks;
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment and work independently or as a member of a team;
  • A self starter who can effectively prioritize and execute tasks appropriately, on time and to a high standard in a high-pressure environment;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Strong inter-personal skills with a polished and professional manner;
  • Above average written and oral communications skills;
  • Ability to communicate technical issues to business leaders and groups in a clear and concise manner;
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and issues;
  • A thorough understanding of coding methods and best practices.
