Senior Project Manager

Eagle is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin in November.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing multiple high-budget and/or highly complex projects using Project Management best practices;
  • The successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling, and closure of projects;
  • Participating as the implementation arm of the program sponsor(s) and Steering Committee;
  • Integrating efforts, continuously assesses and refines approaches and plans;
  • Ensuring good communication among project managers and program stakeholders;
  • Identifying, raising, and mitigating project risks and issues;
  • Working closely with the Program Manager to make sure that the scope, direction, and schedule are maintained;
  • Formally defining the changes to be implemented by the program and assess change complexity;
  • Conducting stakeholder analysis and impact assessment;
  • Assessing and measuring change readiness, and design strategies for filling gaps;
  • Preparing sponsor and leadership to support the change;
  • Planning, drafting, and distributing program communications;
  • Developing training plan, and manage development and delivery of training to support implementation of changes;
  • Developing sustainment plan;
  • Conducting requirements gathering sessions;
  • Documenting business, user and functional requirements, workflows, processes, designs, prototypes and artifacts, and effectively communicate these to all stakeholders;
  • Completing and documenting a thorough gap analysis for relevant projects assigned;
  • Collaborating with business and technical teams to verify business requirements;
  • Assisting business management in developing and implementing strategies to address business needs;
  • Clearly defining scope and compliance with overall organizational goals to manage and monitor project performance, identify issues and opportunities early and take pre-emptive actions if required;
  • Identifying, managing, and mitigating project risks and opportunities and monitoring the closure of all identified risks and opportunities;
  • Delivering projects in accordance with existing policies and contribute to the ongoing development of these policies where appropriate;
  • Day-to-day management of Vendors throughout the Vendor’s engagement (contract signing to the end of warranty period);
  • Development and execution of a cross-Corporation governance plan to ensure that there is appropriate representation and participation from other Departments and Sections;
  • Directly managing resources while they are assigned to the project;
  • Managing confidential and politically sensitive projects;
  • Monitoring and managing assigned project budget and cash flows to support the cost and financial management of the project;
  • Resolving conflicts between groups, stakeholder and client by way of strategic analysis, research, advice and issue management on a variety of daily matter; and,
  • Assessing available resources, coordinate and allocate work to existing staff and consultants, as well as identify internal individuals or teams for ongoing support.

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor Degree in Business, Commerce, Engineering, Computing Science, or related discipline. An MBA would be desirable;
  • Technical/Professional Accreditation (i.e. license, certifications) such as:  Professional Project Management designation (PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner) would be desirable;
  • A minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible and diversified experience in a complex and multi-disciplined organization, in project management;
  • Four plus (4+) years in a leadership capacity overseeing project teams;
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, organization, and team building skills;
  • Experience developing process documents;
  • Highly developed conflict resolution skills;
  • Willingness to be flexible and adapt with changing priorities;
  • Change Management certification is an asset;
  • Business Analyst experience is an asset; and,
  • Financial analysis experience is an asset.
