Eagle is currently seeking an Intermediate Front-End Developer. This is a 5 month, contract position scheduled to start in August 2017 (start date is flexible) with a strong possibility of extension.


  • Role is part of the web development team that supports media publishing:
  • Develop quality code using various languages in keeping with the team’s coding standards for object-oriented PHP, CSS (Bootstrap), and Javascript (jQuery);
  • Create and maintain pages in a large WordPress theme and plug-ins written in PHP 5.5;
  • Understand and implement responsive web design using CSS3 and the Bootstrap 3 responsive framework;
  • Engage in half-day Sprint Planning working sessions, where all members of the team meet to discuss any existing issues, how to technically approach new upcoming work and do task time/effort estimation;
  • Attend and contribute to daily morning SCRUM stand-up meetings where each team member is expected to informally verbalize the current state of tasks being worked on;
  • Use the internal JIRA bug tracking system and the HipChat messaging system to detail a proposed technical solution to a business ask, and discuss tasks / bugs with other team members;
  • Demonstrate the details of your work (at a high-level) to your team members and outside project stakeholders in regular Sprint Demo sessions;
  • Take part in regular peer code reviews with fellow development team members;
  • Cultivate interactive relationships with product owners, ad technology and analytics teams to continually improve understanding of overall business objectives, identify opportunities and understand how digital goals can be maximized;
  • Provide input into the effectiveness of agile development practices and processes to managers and directors;
  • Monitor overall site stability and performance goals, identifying areas of concern to be examined or escalated upon as needed;
  • Agile backlogs planning, sprint planning and other task as requested;
  • Writing and maintaining jQuery-based JavaScript code.

Required skills: 

  • Have a high level of expertise in writing and maintaining jQuery-based JavaScript code;
  • Have a working knowledge of Git (and ideally of GitHub);
  • Must be strong at development on Wordpress; writing plugins from scratch using Bootstrap and jQuery;
  • 3-6 years’ experience in the field of web development;
  • Outstanding skills in developing responsive HTML/CSS/JavaScript including frameworks like Bootstrap and jQuery;
  • 5 years of experience with HTML and CSS;
  • 3 years of experience with Javascript, PHP, MYSQL, DHTML and Wordpress;
  • Significant experience in the development and maintenance of WordPress (PHP) themes and plug-ins;
  • Experience with current development workflows and tools (SASS, Git);
  • Excellent understanding of business objectives for digital media.
