Business Analyst

Eagle is currently seeking a Business Analyst for a six (6) month contract opportunity, scheduled to begin immediately.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Eliciting, analyzing, specifying, and validating the needs of business partners. This includes interviewing partners and gathering and compiling their requirements to understand the solutions they need;
  • Collaborating with business partners to manage technology roadmaps and roadmap initiatives;
  • Collaborating with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision;
  • Conducting interviews to gather user requirements via workshops, questionnaires, surveys, site visits, workflow storyboards, use cases, scenarios, and other methods;
  • Identifying and establishing scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics;
  • Working with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements;
  • Researching, reviewing, and analyzing the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes;
  • Utilizing the client’s IT project methodology to manage projects;
  • Conducting market research on software and hardware products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support procurement efforts;
  • Participating in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized;
  • Leading the selection of any requirements documentation software solutions that the organization may opt to use;
  • Analyzing and verifying requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards;
  • Utilizing standard templates to accurately and concisely create project artifacts (i.e. requirements, specifications, project charters, regular status reports, etc.);
  • Translating conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team;
  • Where applicable, develop prototypes of interfaces and attributes based on the user requirements;
  • Creating process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team;
  • Assisting with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to the business partners;
  • Managing and tracking the status of all stages in the IT project methodology;
  • Communicating changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements, project statuses to business partners and others so that issues and solutions are understood;
  • Acting as champion and model for the IT project methodology, tools, and processes with other team members; and,
  • Assisting and back-up other team members in their roles (including, on occasion, application support).

Skills and Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have:

  • A Diploma or University Degree in the field of Business Administration, Computer Science, or Information Systems;
  • A minimum of five (5) years related work experience;
  • Proven experience working with Supply Chain and Finance systems and business processes;
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development;
  • Proven experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products;
  • Proven ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and business-friendly language;
  • Proven project management skills including planning, organizing, and managing resources;
  • Experience with Information Management systems and processes is an asset (i.e. document management, records management, collaboration, intranet, and extranet);
  • Experience with Maximo and Asset Management is an asset;
  • Understanding of application development and software development life cycle concepts;
  • Very strong customer service orientation;
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills;
  • Good understanding of a Midstream company’s core operations is considered an asset;
  • The ability to be self-motivated and directed;
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • The ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a busy environment;
  • The ability to conduct research into software development and delivery concepts, as well as technical application issues;
  • The ability to present ideas in a business-friendly language;
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;
  • Willingness to take on additional role and responsibilities as they arise; and,
  • The ability to occasionally travel to Western Canada field locations may be required.
